Sign your kids up for STEM Summer Camps at Atlanta Academy. Kids learn about sharks and jellyfish, explore our solar system and launch rockets, investigate chemical reactions, and complete engineering challenges. Our STEM Camps are enhanced with creativity projects to help kids integrate what they have learned during the week.

CAMP INFORMATION

  • Atlanta Academy is located at 2000 Holcomb Woods Parkway, Roswell, GA 30076.

  • 8:00am-3:00pm - $299/week*

  • Drop-off begins at 8:00am, and campers must be picked up by 3:00pm.

  • Sibling discount (10% off additional sibling registration for same week of camp) is applied at checkout.

  • Campers are grouped by grade (rising K-2nd grades and 3rd-5th grades) for age-appropriate activities and instruction by our Camp Leaders for most camps. NOTE: Grades may be combined in the event there are not enough participants enrolled.

  • A minimum of ten campers is required for each camp.

2020 ATLANTA ACADEMY STEM CAMP SCHEDULE

LEGO® ENGINEERING CHALLENGE CAMP – June 1-5

K-2nd Grade - Become an Structural Engineer to learn engineering principles, design and build simple and motorized LEGO® structures and machines, and complete engineering challenges.

3rd-5th Grade - We spend the week designing, building and programing LEGO® Mindstorm® robots to complete obstacle courses and engineering challenges.

MARINE BIOLOGY– June 8-12

K-2nd Grade - Young campers explore the beach and ocean this week. They learn how sand is made, hold sea stars and sea urchins, experiment with water density, dissect a squid and other ocean creatures, make salt-water paintings, and more.

3rd-5th Grade - Campers discover what it is really like to study ocean habitats and creatures as they learn about saltwater tanks, experiment with buoyancy, learn about ocean currents and habitats and dissect different marine organisms, and see how scientists conduct research underwater.

EARTH AND SPACE EXPLORATION  - June 15-19

K-2nd Grade – Campers study rocks, minerals and fossils of Earth, learn about crystallization, and break open geodes. We also investigate space by exploring our solar system, building and launching paper rockets, conducting experiments using the sun’s rays, and more.

3rd-5th Grade - Campers explore rocks, gems and fossils, learn how they formed and practice classifying them. To explore space, campers learn how telescopes work, practice their flight skills with aerial drones, study constellations, planets, moons and comets, and make a scale model of our solar system.

MAD SCIENCE  June 22-26

K-2nd Grade - This week the young campers explore chemistry by creating potions that change color, fizz, bubble and smoke, learn about polymers with water beads and slime, make non-Newtonian fluids, and study the power of magnetism.

3rd-5th Grade - We experiment with chemical reactions in camp this week. Campers create metal crystals, experiment with pH indicators to test acids and bases, design and conduct a scientific experiment to create the best slime (which is really all about chemistry!), investigate polymers, and more.

MINI-MED, VET AND DENTAL SCHOOL   July 6-10

K-2nd Grade - Campers learn about the tools doctors, veterinarians and dentists use, study how our bodies and our pets’ bodies work, get grossed out with brains, burps and x-rays, and investigate germs. We learn the importance of dental hygiene with fake tooth-brushing challenges.

3rd-5th Grade - This week we study how the body works, use microscopes to see what different types of cells look like, and even investigate a real (not human) heart and brain. Our Doctors-In-Training learn basic first aid and care for animals, as well as study dental and bone x-rays and have fun learning about teeth.

MOVIE-INSPIRED SCIENCE July 13-17

K-2nd Grade - From Fairy Tales and "Harry Potter" to "The Incredibles" and "Frozen," we conduct experiments inspired by the movies kids love. We test the ability of balloons to lift objects from the movie "Up," investigate how Elastigirl can stretch, experiment with ice, create fairy doors, and more.

3rd-5th Grade - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math experiments inspired by the big screen. We will not be watching movies, but will be experimenting with "Harry Potter" chemistry potions, "The Incredibles" physics of super powers, "Star Wars" space science, "The LEGO Movie" engineering, and more.

BREAK IT AND MAKE IT July 20-24

K-5th Grade - Young campers learn how to use tools to take apart household electronics and explore what is inside, learn how 3D printers work, create art projects from upcycled materials, and design and create mini-robots.
