Not sure about sending your kids to camp this summer? Keep them engaged and sign them up for our online summer STEM camps! We do many of the same activities planned for our camps at Discover Science Center, but kids do them at home as our Educators lead them online, and we provide supplies. We hope they will join us this summer in-person or online!
OCEAN SCIENCE June 1-5
Ages 6-11 - Campers discover what it is really like to study ocean habitats and creatures as they learn about marine environments, explore the diversity of ocean creatures, and dissect a marine invertebrate to study its anatomy and adaptations.
BREAK IT AND MAKE IT June 8-12
Ages 6-11 - Campers learn how to use tools to take apart household electronics and explore what is inside, create art projects from upcycled materials, and make creations from bath bombs to robots that scribble, and more.
MAD SCIENCE June 15-19
Ages 6-11 - This week, campers conduct laboratory experiments involving chemical reactions, experiment with polymers, create potions that change color and fizz, explore crystallization, and more.
MINI-MED AND VET SCHOOL June 22-26
Ages 6-11 - This week we study how the body works, look at cells under a microscope to see what different types of cells look like, and even investigate a real (not human) heart and brain. Our Doctors-In-Training learn basic first aid and care for animals, as well as investigate parasites.
FORENSIC SCIENCE June 29-July 3
Ages 6-11 - Campers learn the science of solving mysteries as they test their observation skills, investigate fingerprints, powders and DNA, and analyze clues left behind at our "crime scene."
SHARK WEEK July 6-10
Ages 6-11 - This week, campers investigate sharks and their anatomy, and how researchers study sharks. We track migration patterns and create an investigative report on their favorite shark. Campers create shark tooth jewelry, and look at shark skin under a microscope.
SPACE EXPLORERS July 13-17
Ages 6-11 - Campers study space by exploring our solar system, building and launching rockets, and conducting experiments using the sun’s rays. Space explorers design and build a space station, make a model of the moon’s surface, and more.
MOVIE-INSPIRED SCIENCE July 20-24
Ages 6-11 - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math experiments inspired by the big screen. We experiment with "Harry Potter" chemistry potions, "The Incredibles" physics of super powers, "Star Wars" space science, "The LEGO Movie" engineering, and more.
GEOLOGY AND PALEONTOLOGY July 27-31
Ages 6-11 - This week, campers investigate characteristics of rocks and gemstones, learn about crystallization as they crack open their own geodes, study dinosaurs and how they lived, and dig like a paleontologist as they search for prehistoric life forms.
SCIENCE OF MOTION August 3-7
Ages 6-11 - Campers design and create elaborate Rube Goldberg contraptions to perform a simple task, engineer rollercoasters, design catapults and paper airplanes to study force and motion and more.
