Little kids are natural scientists! Our Young Explorers (ages 3-5) and their adult partner use lab tools to conduct science experiments, explore nature and create science-based art. In addition to introducing our Young Explorers to scientific concepts, we also work on fine motor skills, encourage sensory play, and help develop critical thinking skills through our hands-on experiments and activities. Fun for kids and adults! At least one adult partner must attend.
Saturdays - 10:00-10:45am
Location: Discover Science Center - Peachtree City
$15/kid (50% sibling discount)
Masks are recommended, but not required. Limited to eight Young Explorers and their adult partners.

FEBRUARY – YOUNG SCIENTISTS
Saturday, February 12 – 10:00-10:45am
In this lab, we experiment with candy chemistry as we make a Skittles liquid rainbow and make Valentine’s oobleck.
MARCH - YOUNG ENGINEERS
Saturday, March 12 – 10:00-10:45am
Kids create different types of boats that float, and experiment to see how much each boat will hold before it sinks.
Saturday, March 26 – 10:00-10:45am
We use recyclables, cars, balls, cans, cups, blocks, string, tape, whatever, to experiment with chain reactions.
APRIL - YOUNG MARINE BIOLOGISTS
Saturday, April 2 – 10:00-10:45am
Kids explore sharks as they investigate shark tooth shapes, learn about their skin, and touch a real, preserved spiny dogfish shark.
Saturday, April 16 – 10:00-10:45am
We investigate the anatomy of squid to learn how they eat, swim and protect themselves.
Saturday, April 23 – 10:00-10:45am
Kids explore different types of sea shells and learn about the organisms that made them.
Saturday, April 30 – 10:00-10:45am
Kids learn the science of Sea Monkeys, as they make their own mini-aquarium and hatch a population of brine shrimp.
MAY - YOUNG ECOLOGISTS
Saturday, May 7 – 10:00-10:45am
Kids learn about owls as they dissect their own pellet to investigate the bones of what their owl ate.
Saturday, May 14 – 10:00-10:45am
Kids learn the science of pine cones as they conduct an experiment to see how they protect and disperse their seeds.
Saturday, May 21 – 10:00-10:45am
Kids explore nature as we dissect a log to determine who lives inside, and what creatures decompose wood.
SATURDAY SCIENCE WORKSHOPS
Your kids are invited to join us for our Saturday Science Workshops. Themes range across all areas of STEM and can cover some requirements needed for Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts or Scouts BSA badges.
Saturdays - 11:00am-12:15pm
$20 (sibling discount available)
Location: Discover Science Center - Peachtree City
Saturday, January 22 - 11:00am-12:15pm
Kids experiment with our unicorn potions, learn the science behind colorful polymer beads and unicorn slime.
Saturday, February 12 - 11:00am-12:15pm
In this lab, we experiment with candy chemistry as we create a sugar density gradient and make a Skittles liquid rainbow, and of course, make Valentine’s oobleck.
LEPRECHAUN STEM LAB
Saturday, March 12 - 11:00am-12:15pm
Kids use their design and engineering skills to create a leprechaun trap and learn about circuits to create a St. Patty's Day light-up-card.
SCIENCE OF PAPER AIRPLANES
Saturday, April 16 - 11:00am-12:15pm
Today, we test paper airplanes to determine how forces and design affect flight, then create a launcher or modify to determine if our planes can fly even farther.
**Cub Scout Connection: Participating Wolf Scouts work on requirements 1a and 1b for the Motor Away Adventure.
**Brownies Connection: work on requirements toward their Mechanical Engineering: Fling Flyer Badge
BATH BOMB LAB
Saturday, May 21 - 11:00am-12:15pm
Kids become chemists as they learn about the chemical reaction that makes bath bombs fizz and create their own bath bombs.
Enjoy a night out while your kids spend the evening doing fun science activities and experiments.
Saturday, January 29 - 6:00-9:00pm
Kids explore shark biology and anatomy with our preserved sharks, dissect squid (only if they want to) and grow their own Sea Monkeys they can take home.
Saturday, February 12 - 6:00-9:00pm
Kids experiment with candy chemistry as they create a sugar density gradient and make a Skittles liquid rainbow, and of course, they make Valentine’s oobleck.
Saturday, March 26 - 6:00-9:00pm
This evening we journey through space and explore our planets and their moons, create an ice comet, make rockets and have a launching contest.
Saturday, April 16 - 6:00-9:00pm
Kids become Master Builders as they are challenged to create solutions to engineering problems, and work together to create landscapes using LEGO®.
Saturday, May 14 - 6:00-9:00pm
Kids study properties of different liquids, including exploring magnetic fluid, experimenting with density gradients, and observing surface tension and viscosity.
Enjoy an evening doing science and STEM activities with your kids!
Friday, February 4 and Wednesday, February 9 - 6:00-8:00pm
Test your design and building skills with engineering challenges, build contraptions to create chain reactions and test LEGO®Power Cars to determine the best gears to climb hills.
Friday, March 18 and Wednesday, March 30 - 6:00-8:00pm
