Our homeschool labs are designed by scientists and educators to supplement homeschool science curricula through fun, hands-on science experiments and activities.
PLEASE NOTE: We have two classrooms, our main Science Center (suite 5), and our STEM Lab (suite 21, just up the sidewalk). Please make note of where your child's class will meet.

PUMPKIN ART AND SCIENCE

Join us for a spooky science workshop and Halloween treats! Students conduct an experiment with pumpkins, make potions that fizz and bubble, and study the science of spooky slime.

MINECRAFT ENGINEERING CHALLENGES (2 weeks)

Using magnetic building blocks, students work together to complete engineering challenges related to a Minecraft theme. Space is limited so register early.

REPTILES AND AMPHIBIANS (3 weeks)
Thursday, November 7, 14, and 21 - 9:30-10:45am
Ages 6-10
In this mini-course, students have the opportunity to learn from a Master Herpetologist about the amphibians and reptiles of the world. Students get hands on experiences assisting with the animal husbandry of our scaly, resident friends as well as the opportunity to observe and interact with several species of reptiles!

SCIENTIFIC DATA ANALYSIS (3 weeks)
Thursday, November 7, 14, and 21 - 9:30-11:00am
Ages 11+
Students learn the basics of analyzing scientific data, from good experimental design and creating data files in Excel (or other spreadsheet software), to calculating means and creating appropriate tables and figures. Students practice writing lab reports, and learn to create scientific presentations in Powerpoint (or similar software). Students will need a laptop or tablet with spreadsheet (Excel, Numbers, etc.) and presentation creation software (Powerpoint or similar) during class.

Students learn basic coding concepts through offline coding activities and then have the opportunity to use their new skills to navigate their way out of a maze.

We know kids love slime, so we use their love to teach them some SCIENCE! We explore the chemistry that makes activator work and learn how some slime will glow in the dark.

In this lab, we study crayfish and learn the characteristics they share with other members of their phylum. Students have the opportunity to dissect a crayfish squid and investigate their internal anatomy.
