AFTER-SCHOOL STEM PROGRAMS

Experiments with Elements is an after-school science enrichment program aimed at children interested in conducting experiments and learning about chemistry. Each class, developed by scientists and educators, includes knowledge development and hands-on learning activities. Every week we cover a new topic, including an introduction to the periodic table (yes, kindergarteners can learn about the periodic table!), learning how to use scientific tools, experimenting with simple reactions, and understanding the chemistry of slime. 

Discover Marine Science is an after-school science enrichment program aimed at children interested learning about the ocean and marine biology. Each class, developed by marine biologists and educators, includes knowledge development and hands-on learning activities. Every week we cover a new topic, from saltwater density experiments and learning how sand is made, to squid dissections and examining shark skin.

Discover Earth and Space is an after-school science enrichment program where kids explore the outer reaches of the universe to the bottom of the oceans as we investigate processes that affect the Earth’s surface, explore the celestial bodies in our solar system, and learn how we study ocean and space. Each class involves hands-on experiments and activities developed by scientists and educators. We investigate characteristics of rocks and minerals as we crack open geodes, learn how landforms change over time, make models of our solar system, explore comets and meteors, learn how we study space, design and build space rovers, and more.

Mini Med School is an after-school enrichment program aimed at children interested in learning about the tools doctors use, study how our bodies work, use microscopes to see what different cells look like, and investigate real hearts, kidneys and brains. Each class involves hands-on experiments and activities developed by scientists and educators.

Robot Basics is an after-school science and technology enrichment program aimed at children interested learning about robots from their basic circuitry to their mechanisms and programming. Each class involves hands-on experiments and activities developed by scientists and educators, and covers a different introductory topic leading to the programming of our Root iRobots at the end of the semester.

Forensic Science is an after-school science enrichment program where kids use scientific methods (biology, chemistry, and physics) to answer questions related to crimes and law enforcement investigations. Each class involves hands-on experiments and activities developed by scientists and educators. Students learn how to analyze fingerprint, handwriting, blood type and DNA evidence, use microscopes to characterize hair and fiber evidence, and use what they learn to solve a mystery.
