frequently asked questions

What is your cancellation policy?

PLEASE NOTE NEW POLICY FOR REGISTRATIONS MADE AFTER OCTOBER 9, 2019:

A $5 cancellation fee will be applied to all cancelled Girl Scout Workshop registrations made after October 9, 2019. Refunds (minus the cancellation fee) will be provided up to 48 hours prior the the start of a Girl Scout Workshop. Please email info@discoversciencecenter.com or call 770 641-9336 to cancel your Girl Scout's registration. Refunds or credits will NOT be provided without 48 hours prior notice or for no-shows. As many of our workshops will have a waitlist, the 48-hour policy allows us time to contact those on the waitlist that would like to participate in the workshop.

Is the $5 cancellation fee per Girl Scout or per troop?

The cancellation fee is per Girl Scout.

Instead of cancelling, can we change the registration to another workshop?

Yes, but only with at least 48 hours notice.

Are badges/patches included in the registration fee?

Yes. The badge/patch is included in the registration fee, and will be handed out at the end of the workshop.

My Girl Scout lost her badge/patch. Can I have another?

Lost badges can be replaced at a Girl Scout Store in person or online. Most of our fun patches can be purchased through snappylogos.com.

Can non-Girl Scout siblings participate?

Due to the demand for our Girl Scout Workshops, we reserve the spots only for Girl Scouts. However, if the day of a workshop there are openings due to last-minute cancellations or no-shows, siblings can register on site. Just ask one of our Educators.

Do parents or troop leaders need to stay during the workshop?

Parents are welcome to drop off their Girl Scouts for the workshop, and are not required to stay. Space is limited in our labs, and we do ask that parents/troop leaders drop off when possible. For parents/troop leaders that are staying, we ask that you step outside for phone or other conversations during the workshop to minimize distractions.

If parents or troop leaders are staying, do they need to pay the registration fee?

No. There is no fee for adults.

What time do I drop off my Girl Scout?

No more than 10 minutes prior to the start of the workshop.

If my Girl Scout is staying for two workshops, do I need to come back in between workshops to pick her up?

Girl Scouts registered for two workshops in the same afternoon are welcome to stay during the break. You do not need to pick them up, just send them with a snack.

Can we schedule a private workshop for our troop?

We are no longer able to accommodate private workshops as most of our weekends are already filled with workshops, and the new workshops we add have to be able to accept Girl Scouts that are on waitlists. If you would like to request a specific workshop to add to our calendar, please email (info@discoversciencecenter.com)or call (770 641-9336), and we can try to plan a date for it. We give your troop a week to get your girls registered, and then we open the remaining spots to other troops.

Do you offer workshops over the summer?

We will offer a limited number of Girl Scout Workshops over the summer. The schedule will be out in January.
